    The goal

Four players, thirteen cards each. Be the first to play your whole hand. Whoever holds the three of diamonds leads the first play.

  2. 2

    Twos are highest

    Ranks run 3 up to ace, then 2 — the deuce beats everything. Ties break by suit: ♦ < ♣ < ♥ < ♠.

  3. 3

    Singles, pairs, fives

Lead a single, a pair, a triple, or a five-card hand — straight, flush, full house, four-of-a-kind, straight flush. Followers must beat it with the same shape, or pass.

  4. 4

    Pass, and the table turns

When all three opponents pass in a row, the pile clears and the last player to play leads anything. Empty your hand first and the round is yours.
